The Editorial Verdict
Nextcloud tries to be everything — file sync, groupware, a mini Google Workspace — and mostly pulls it off. The app ecosystem is enormous and the mobile clients are mature. The tradeoff is that a large install needs real resources to feel fast, and plugin compatibility breaks between major versions. Great if you need the breadth, overkill if you just want file sync.
