Cookie Policy

Last updated Version 1.0

What cookies SourceSwap sets, what the ad network sets, and how to turn all of it off. The short version: very little, and everything is optional.

SourceSwap is a static site with no login and no profiling. The site itself sets almost no cookies. What follows is a complete inventory of what's stored in your browser when you visit, and how to turn any of it off.

What cookies are

Cookies are small text files a website asks your browser to store. They're used to remember things between page loads — like whether you've chosen dark mode, or whether you've signed in.

There's a related mechanism called localStorage. It works similarly but is stored separately and isn't sent to the server on every request. SourceSwap uses both — and this page covers both.

Cookies SourceSwap sets

None. SourceSwap itself doesn't set any cookies — not for analytics, not for advertising, not for tracking.

The only thing SourceSwap stores on your device is your theme preference (light or dark mode). It's saved in localStorage, not as a cookie, and it never leaves your browser.

Cookies advertising sets

When advertising goes live, the ad network will set its own cookies. These are not set by SourceSwap and not controlled by SourceSwap. They may include:

  • Ad delivery cookies — used to display ads and prevent the same ad appearing repeatedly.
  • Ad measurement cookies — used to track whether an ad was seen or clicked.
  • Personalization cookies — used by Google and its partners to serve ads based on your browsing across sites.

These are Google AdSense cookies or equivalent. Their use is governed by the ad network's own privacy policy.

To opt out of personalized advertising: visitGoogle Ads Settings oraboutads.info.

To block all advertising cookies: any standard ad blocker, or set your browser to block third-party cookies. The site works normally either way.

Local storage

Two things may be stored in localStorage by SourceSwap:

  • Theme preference — key: site-theme. Stores your choice of light or dark mode. No expiry. Removed when you clear site data.
  • Reading progress — used on blog posts to restore your scroll position when you return. Stored locally only. No expiry.

Neither value is sent to a server. Neither is shared. Neither tracks you across sites.

Controlling cookies and storage

Options for reducing what gets stored, from mild to maximum:

  • Block third-party cookies in your browser. This prevents ad network cookies entirely. SourceSwap works normally. You may see less relevant ads, or no ads at all.
  • Use an ad blocker. Ads won't display. Analytics won't count your visit. Nothing on the site breaks.
  • Clear site data for this domain. Removes your theme preference and reading progress. The site will default to light mode next time.
  • Use a browser in private or incognito mode. Everything above is discarded when you close the window.

Changes

If new cookies or storage mechanisms are added — particularly when advertising goes live — this page will be updated with specifics before the change takes effect. The "Last updated" date at the top will reflect when the change was made.

There are no plans to add tracking cookies, fingerprinting, or cross-site identifiers.
